JSENSE

Training

JSENSE delivers courses to support parents and carers of children and young people with SEND to develop their skills. This in turn helps those in their care, including addressing issues early on, so that they can ensure the children and young people fulfil their full potential.

JSENSE training was developed for parents and carers of children and young people with SEND. Topics covered have included ADHD, Autism and Sensory processing, Speech and Language, Social and Emotional Literacy and how best to work with schools, especially Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Co-ordinators (SENDCO’s).

JSENSE also delivers special topic events. Past events have included speakers on Parenting Support, Child and Adolescent Mental Health services (CAMHS) and Information and Advice Services. During the recent Covid 19 emergency we delivered online events for parents and carers which could also be accessed as audio only by telephone.

JSENSE has also delivered parenting and ELKAN speech and language courses.

Teachers and SENDCOs

Between 2017 and 2019 we trained over 600 school staff impacting, indirectly, on over 1300 pupils.  Our training courses were adapted and delivered in different ways according to the needs of the school.

During the COVID 19 emergency we  continued to work with SENDCOs and teachers and adapted our approaches to training accordingly.
